50 Years of Type 1 Diabetes: Diagnosis to Now

It has been over 50 years since I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. My blogs consider how type 1 has affected my life on a day-to-day basis. Although I don’t believe type 1 has stopped me from participating in the activities that I have wanted to, it has often interfered with how I have to manage these activities to allow myself the best chance of leading a ‘normal’ life.

 
 
 

A big milestone

Alan Nabarro Medal

On 5 March 2022, I reached my 50 year diaversary – the anniversary of being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Diabetes UK recognise this landmark anniversary by awarding the Alan Nabarro medal to people who have lived with diabetes for 50 years or more.
